Riding on a Royal Enfield across the highest road in the world from Manali to Leh, is truly an unforgettable experience but can be a challenge. Crossing over several passes, including Rohtang Pass, Baralacha La, Polokongkha, Khardung La and Tanglang La, the highest being the Khardung La 5540 m / 18,175 ft. As we progress on the tour, you will notice the change in not only climate, but landscape and culture with its strong Tibetan influences. Visiting various monasteries and isolated villages gives the adventure a fulfilling feeling and you will depart to Delhi with thrilling and memorable experiences.

Royal Enfield Motorcycle Tour (Himalaya-Ladakh)


Day 1

Arrival in Delhi
Guests will be received at the airport followed by a transfer to a hotel, where you will be staying overnight.
 


Day 2

Journey from Delhi to Manali
Travelling Distance: 570 km
Travelling Time: 16 hours by mini bus or 14 hours by jeep
Altitude: 2000 m / 6,561 ft.

You will check out of your hotel in Delhi at 5am; you will have breakfast along the way. In the afternoon we will also stop for lunch. By evening time you will have reached in Manali, where you will be transferred to your hotel.


Day 3

Tour 1 – Manali
After breakfast, each individual will be provided with a motorbike, for you to explore Manali and its surroundings with a local guide. You will also visit Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery, Hindu Temples and the hot springs in Vashisht.


Day 4

Tour 2 – Manali to Jispa
Travelling Distance: 135 km
Altitude: 3250 m / 10,662 ft.

You will drive along the Beas River upstream along the left bank through several villages, until you reach the Rohtang Pass (4050 m / 13,287 ft.). You will then drive down to reach in Gramphu, and then the passport check point at Koskar. Afterwards, you will carry on to reach in Keylong; the tribal district headquarters. A further 35 km will lead you to the campsite at Jispa or Darcha.


Day 5

Tour 3 – Jispa to Sarchu
Travelling Distance: 84 km
Altitude: 4253 m / 13,953 ft.

You will leave to the higher region, accompanied by zigzag uphill roads in the shadow of hanging glaciers to the scenic Baralacha La (4800 m / 15,748 ft.), before we descend to the Sarchu plateau. Overnight stay on Sarchu campsite.


Day 6

Tour 4 – Sarchu to Tsokar
Travelling Distance: 133 km
Travelling Time: 7 hours
Altitude: 4267 m / 13,999 ft.

You will leave the vast Sarchu plateau, to head up a curvy drive until you reach Namik La (4950 m / 16,240 ft.), where you can experience the spectacular views of rugged rocks and their unique geological formation. Then you go over Lachu Lang La (5090 m / 16,699 ft.) before descending to the gorge of the cliffy Gangla Jal to Pang. You will then continue through the vast plateau of Kyang Chu-Thang (plateau of wild donkey) to Tsokar, via dusty and unidentified trails. The Tsokar lake - also called White Lake because of the salt deposits around it – is where extracted salt from its shores is still sold all over Ladakh, as well as yellow headed Wagtail, Pled Wagtail, Desert Wheatears, Raven, Horned Lark etc.


Day 7

Tour 5 – Tsokar to Tsomoriri (Karzok)
Travelling Distance: 90 km
Altitude: 4568 m / 14,986 ft.

The rough road leads to the top of the Polokongkha (4920 m / 16,141 ft.) before you descend to the Puga Valley, which is known for its Butan gass and nomads. You will reach in Sumdo Village before driving uphill again to reach the Namstang La (4800 m / 15,748 ft.) and carry on to Karzok. The Gompa and its inhabitants (nomads) are the most outstanding features of this area. Overnight stay in camp.


Day 8

Tour 6 – Karzok to Leh
Travelling Distance: 220 km
Altitude: 3506 m / 11,502 ft.

You will leave early to head back the same way until reaching in Sumdo, then reaching at Mahe, where the main road leads to Leh. You will be following alongside the Indus River. On the way you will have the opportunity to visit the Hemis, Thiksey and Shey Monasteries. Overnight stay in hotel.


Day 9

Tour 7 – Leh to Stok and Phyang Monastery
You will be visiting the Stok Palace and its museum, as well as taking a relaxing stroll in the village; we will drive to Phyang en route before reaching back in Leh in time for lunch. Overnight stay in hotel.


Day 10

Tour 8 – Leh to Khardung La 
Altitude: 5540 m / 18,175 ft.

Today’s tour will begin with an uphill until the Khardung La, as it is the highest point you will need to be cautious of altitude sickness. However, oxygen cylinders will be within the accompanying vehicle throughout the journey. Once you have reached on top of the highest motor able pass in the world, you can enjoy the magnificent views of Himalaya and its valleys. You will then head back for Leh, where you will have lunch and then you will be free for the rest of the day. Overnight stay in hotel.


Day 11

Tour 9 – Leh to Pang
Travelling Distance: 174 km
Altitude: 4630 m / 15,190 ft. (Over Tanglang La 5630 m / 18,471 ft.)

The road goes through several villages over the world’s second highest motor able pass before reaching in Pang. Overnight stay in camp.


Day 12

Tour 10 – Pang to Jispa
Repeat same journey back.


Day 13

Tour 11 – Jispa to Manali
Travelling Distance: 138 km

Repeat same journey back. End of tour.


Day 14

Journey from Manali – Delhi: Explore Manali
Travelling Distance: 570 km
Travelling Time: 16 hours

Free visit in Manali. You will be able to spend the rest of the day freely within the town until 3pm, when you will depart for the bus station. Overnight journey in comfortable bus.


Day 15

Flight Departure: Delhi
You will be given the opportunity to explore around Delhi as you will have a full day free, before being transferred to the Indira Gandhi International Airport where you will depart to your onward destination.


Important Notes:

  • Motor biking in the Himalayas is a great opportunity. To make the best of your expedition, please keep co-operation in between and patience is very important.
  • Whilst you are riding, everyone should be in view of each other, starting early will avoid the traffic and you will have good light for photographs.
  • Please take insurance which will cover any damage of the motorbike in case of an accident, personal medical evacuation or any loss of baggage etc.
  • There will be a common medical kit including oxygen cylinders, however apart from that you will need to carry your own medical as per your health requirements.
  • Heart patients are not allowed to participate in such an adventurous trip.
  • In case of road blocks there can be a change in itinerary, so we will need you to understand the situation. Our team at present will find a solution which will be the best for any medical evacuation, loss of baggage etc.

  • A reimbursable security deposit of 200 Euros for the motorbike. In case the bike is damaged, the amount required to fix the damages shall be deducted at the end of the journey.
